Preacher: Tim Akin

Series: Follow Me: The Gospel According to Mark

Main Idea:
God sentHis Son to rescue sinners.

1.    God patiently provides for his people.
       (Mark 12:1-5)

“An earthly story or analogy with a heavenly meaning.”

The Man who plant’s” = God.
Vineyard” = Israel.
Tenants” = Religious leaders.
Servants” = Prophets.
Beloved Son”=Jesus.

  • 2 Peter 3:9: “Is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”

  • Hebrews 11:35-38: “Some were tortured, refusing to accept release, so that they might rise again to a better life. Others suffered mocking and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were killed with the sword. They went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, mistreated— of whom the world was not worthy— wandering about in deserts and mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.”

  1. God rejects those who reject His Son.
    (Mark 12: 6-9)

    • Kent Hughes: Every Christian is in view.”
    • John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
    • Charles Spurgeon: Nothing remains when Christ is refused. No one else can be sent. Heaven, itself, contains no further messenger. If Christ is rejected, hope is rejected!

  1. God redeems those who receive His Son.
    (Mark 12: 10-12)

Have you rejected Him or received Him?
