Passage: 1 Corinthians 2:6-16

Preacher: Tim Akin

Series: Called Out: Study through the book of 1st Corinthians

Detail:

King Solomon: “I am only a little child, and do not know how to carry out my responsibilities.”

Main Idea: The church of God is called-out to be spiritually wise.

Spiritual Wisdom: The ability to see life from God’s perspective and act accordingly.

How do we become spiritually wise?

  1. Believe in the Gospel (1 Corinthians 2:6-8).
    • The Gospel: Jesus died on the cross for our sins, He was buried, and God raised Him from the dead.
    • 2 Corinthians 5:21: “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
    • Romans 12:2: “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
    • Be devoted to studying the Bible.
    • Be devoted to community in the church.

  1. Hope in the Eternal (1 Corinthians 2:9-10).

  1. Trust in the Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:11-16).
    • We are to do what Jesus would do if he were physically present.
    • Matthew 11:28: “Come to me all who labor, and are heavy burden and I will give you rest!”
    • Philippians 3:8: “Count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus our Lord!”

Jesus + Nothing = Everything!
